Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed at virtual Jan Chaupal in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut, Ghaziabad, Aligarh, Hapur, Noida. PM Modi said, “This election is about keeping the history sheeters out and to create a new history. I am delighted that people of UP have made up their minds that they won't allow rioters and mafia to take control of UP from behind the curtains.”

“The voters of the these areas understand very well how important it is to have rule of law and order for business and industries. No one could have imagined that the criminal-mafias would ever come under control in the state but the Yogi government has done it and restored law and order here,” he added.

Taking a dig at the Samajwadi Party ahead of UP assembly polls, PM Modi said that the time had come to ensure that those who played with the lives of the common man during the pandemic by spreading misinformation about Covid vaccines lose elections. “Today in UP, the first dose of corona vaccine has been given to 100% people. More than 70 percent of the people have already had a second dose. This is a befitting reply by the people of UP to those spreading rumours,” he added.

The Prime Minister heaped praises on CM Yogi Adityanath for bringing about positive changes in the state and highlighted the achievements of double engine government. He said, “No one could have imagined that criminals would ever come under control. Yogi Ji has established the rule of law in UP. In the 21st century, UP needs a Government that continuously works at double-speed and only a double-engine Government can do this. The entire world is facing a pandemic today. Humankind had never seen such a crisis on a global level in 100 years. Even during this crisis, we have seen the double benefits of this double-engine.”

The Prime Minister said, “UP has seen several elections after independence. It has seen governments come and go. But these elections are unique. These are for establishment of peace in UP, for continuation of development, for good governance, for the rapid development of people of UP.”

Having a virtual dialogue with the voters of 5 districts in the first phase of UP elections, the PM said, “Be it expressway, airport, metro, rural roads, housing for the poor, campaign to provide water to every household, there has been an unprecedented pace in every work in the last years. You know how the government which was there before 2017 looted the state in the name of expressway.”

“Purvanchal and Delhi-Meerut expressways have been completed under Yogi ji's government and work is going on at a brisk pace on five expressways,” said PM Modi. “When the effort is sincere, the work is just as effective. Be it the lock of Aligarh, scissors or sports industry of Meerut, they are getting stronger with the efforts of the government. They are also getting help from One District One Product campaign,” he added.

Hitting out at opposition in his second virtual rally for the UP, PM Modi stated, “Opposition has left no stone unturned to spread the rumor that MSP will end, but the double engine government in UP has increased procurement at MSP many times more than before 2017. This year also the farmers of the country including UP are going to get lakhs of crores of rupees as MSP. These are the same parties doing the politics of rumours, the same leaders whose governments have locked more than two dozen sugar mills in UP.”

Talking about empowering women in the state, PM Modi asserted, “Today there are about 5,500 registered startups in UP, out of which our daughters are directors in many of these startups. Similarly, about 60% of the beneficiaries of loans available without guarantee under Mudra Yojana are also women.”

PM Modi today asked the people in Uttar Pradesh to go out and vote in large numbers in first phase of assembly elections. He said, ‘Pehle Matdan, Phir Jalpan.’ You need to be very careful while casting your vote. If they get a chance, these family-driven fake Samajwadis will stop the aid being provided to farmers,” he added.

The Republic of India and the Republic of Korea, hereafter referred to as "the two sides,” agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation to address global sustainability challenges through practical collaboration in climate change, maritime and Arctic issues.

As environmentally responsible nations, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to fulfill the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development with respect to environment in an integrated manner. To achieve this, the two sides decided to promote cooperation on environmental matters and climate change, including the sustainable management of natural resources including land, air, water, biodiversity, and wastes.

Climate Change Cooperation

Reaffirming their support for the rules-based international order and their commitment to the Paris Agreement, the two sides recognised the critical importance of enhancing climate action to address the unprecedented climate crisis that threatens sustainability of humanity and nature.

In this context, the two sides welcomed the conclusion of an MOC under Article 6.2 of the Paris Agreement, which establishes a cooperative approach for investment-driven mitigation projects, advances the achievement of their respective Nationally Determined Contributions, and further strengthens their strategic partnership in the area of climate action. The two sides will enhance collaboration in the blue economy and promote closer exchanges between scientific institutions and maritime agencies in both countries.

Arctic Research and Polar Cooperation

India and the ROK noted their growing engagement in Arctic research and scientific cooperation. The two sides recognised the Arctic as an important region for advancing understanding of climate change and agreed to expand cooperation in the Arctic, including Arctic science and Arctic shipping.

The two sides will promote closer collaboration between their respective Arctic research institutions and explore opportunities for joint research initiatives, scientific exchanges, and participation in international polar research programmes.

Way Forward

The two sides reaffirmed their commitment to advancing practical cooperation that contributes to sustainable development and climate action.

India and the ROK expressed confidence that the expanded cooperation outlined in this joint statement will contribute to the development of innovative and scalable solutions that can support sustainable development in the Indo-Pacific region and beyond.
