Gujarat Chief Minister speaks with 1.23-lakh beneficiaries on 3rd Garib Kalyan Mela

Narendra Modi announces ‘Mukhya Mantri Amritam Yojna’ assistance of up to Rs.2-lakh for treatment of serious diseases of BPL persons

Ahmedabad, Saturday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today announced ‘Mukhya Mantri Amritam Yojna’ for the treatment of BPL persons suffering from serious diseases free-of-cost up to Rs.2-lakh. A budgetary provision of Rs.200-crore has been made under this scheme.

Speaking on the third day of Garib Kalyan Mela from Gandhinagar with 1.32-lakh beneficiaries for Rs.175-crore assistance in 23 talukas through video conferencing, he said that Gujaratis the state which bears the cost of major surgery of school children and lakhs of poor families, providing them a new lease of life.

As the occasion coincided with Dr. Ambedkar’s 121st birth anniversary, he said the Garib Kalyan Melas are to let the poor, dalit, oppressed and have-nots realize their dream and to infuse energy in them with strength to fight poverty.

Mr. Modi said education is best medicine to fight poverty. Giving details of innovative methods to spread among the deprived, he said that Gujarat has topped all the states in the country in implementation of 20-Point Programme continuously for the last ten years.

He said that 8.50 lakh pucca house have been built for the homeless in the category of 0-16 points of BPL families in the state. These Garib Kalyan Melas are the platform for fighting poverty.

The Chief Minister appealed to the people to resolve on Dr. Ambedkar’s birthday to shun addiction.

Prime Minister expresses delight as Sarnath is inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed that it is a proud moment for every Indian, sharing his delight that Sarnath in Uttar Pradesh has been inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

He noted that Sarnath has a close association with Lord Buddha, whose timeless message of wisdom, compassion and harmony inspires the world.

Shri Modi highlighted that this recognition celebrates India’s profound civilisational and spiritual heritage. The Prime Minister observed that it will also inspire more people across the world to come to Sarnath and connect with the ideals of Lord Buddha.
