12 ನೇ ಪೂರ್ವ ಏಷ್ಯಾದ ಶೃಂಗಸಭೆಯಲ್ಲಿ, ಆಸಿಯಾನ್ ಒಂದು ದೊಡ್ಡ ಜಾಗತಿಕ ವಿಭಜನೆಯ ಸಮಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಾರಂಭವಾಯಿತು , ಆದರೆ ಇಂದು ಅದರ ಸುವರ್ಣ ಮಹೋತ್ಸವವನ್ನು ಆಚರಿಸುತ್ತಿದ್ದಂತೆ, ಅದು ಭರವಸೆಯ ಸಂಕೇತವಾಗಿ ಕಾಣಿಸಿತು; ಶಾಂತಿ ಮತ್ತು ಸಮೃದ್ಧಿಯ ಸಂಕೇತ ಎಂದು ಪ್ರಧಾನಿ ನರೇಂದ್ರ ಮೋದಿ ಹೇಳಿದರು.
"ನಾವು ಪೂರ್ವ ಏಷ್ಯಾ ಶೃಂಗಸಭೆಗೆ ಬರಲಿರುವ ವರ್ಷಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹೆಚ್ಚಿನ ಪ್ರಾಮುಖ್ಯತೆ ಪಡೆದುಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತೇವೆ. ಈ ಪ್ರದೇಶದ ರಾಜಕೀಯ, ಭದ್ರತೆ ಮತ್ತು ಆರ್ಥಿಕ ಸಮಸ್ಯೆಗಳನ್ನು ಬಗೆಹರಿಸಲು ನಾನು ನಿಮ್ಮೊಂದಿಗೆ ಕೆಲಸ ಮಾಡುವ ನನ್ನ ಬದ್ಧತೆಯನ್ನು ಪುನರುಚ್ಚರಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ" ಎಂದೂ ಅವರು ಹೇಳಿದರು .
