Garib Kalyan Mela begins in Morbi

Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi outlined Mission Mangalam for the empowerment of Sakhi-Mandals. He said that as many as 15 lacs poor rural women managed Rs.4000 crores, through the framework of Sakhi-Mandals and succeeded in the battle against the monster of debt. The mission will raise the amount under management to Rs.1000 crores and eventually to Rs.5000 crores by the year 2014.

Under the Garib Kalyan Mela Abhiyan, 30th Mela was held at Morabi today. Tool-kits worth Rs.30.42 crores were distributed to as many as 53336 poor beneficiaries of five talukas - Morabi, Paddhari, Vankaner, Maliya-Miyana and Tankara.

As many as 1.30 lacs beneficiaries received benefits worth Rs.90 crores during two Garib Kalyan Mela organized for the Rajkot district. This has boosted the economy of the district. In the time when even brothers quarrel for a piece of land, the Government accorded residential plots, costing in trillions to the poor beneficiaries, Chief Minister said. He also mentioned about the difficulties of salt workers of Maliya- Morbi and the Loan-Granting scheme for them.

He said that Gujarat has come up after the havocs of Machchhu and Earthquake. A water scarce state has proved its metal by acquiring 9.5% of agricultural growth rate. These have filled the poor with hope and confidence. Mentioning about mediators, he said that it is because of them that benefits could not reached to real beneficiaries. Garib Kalyan Mela is a step to destroy their network. He appealed to not to respond to any mediators.

He released Vikas-Vatika booklet, showcasing development works in Rajkot district. Guests of the occasion, Agriculture Minister-Shri Dilipbhai Sanghani; MP-Shri Vijaybhai Raupani distributed benefits to beneficiaries.

Finance Minister Shri Vajubhai Vala said that, with support and empathy, poor can participate in the current flow of society.

Parliamentary Secretary-Shri L.T.Rajani; MLA-Shri Mohanbhai Kundariya and Kantibhai Amrutiya; Shri Jashumatiben Korat; Shri Pravinbhai Mankadiya; Smt.Bhanuben Babariya; Shri Govindbhai Patel; Presidents of Nagarpalika and Panchayat Officers were present and addressed the Mela. Rajkot district Collector-Shri H.S.Patel gave welcome speech during the Mela.

The First Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, H.E. Denis Manturov, called on Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.

First Deputy PM Manturov briefed PM on the progress in various areas of mutually beneficial cooperation, including trade and economic partnership, fertilizers, connectivity and people-to-people ties.

PM recalled the successful visit of President Putin to India in December 2025 for the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit.

He expressed satisfaction at the sustained efforts being made by both sides towards implementation of the outcomes from the Annual Summit, aimed at further strengthening the India- Russia Special and Privileged Strategic Partnership.

PM extended warm greetings to President Putin and said that he looked forward to their continued exchanges.
