Gujarat Chief Minister shree Narendrabhai Modi will inaugurate IATO- Indian Association of Tour Operators’ 27th Annual Convention, 2011 to be held in Gandhinagar tomorrow on 22nd September. Chief Minister will also address the tour operators’ annual convention. A four day B2B convention will meet here at Mahatma Mandir on 22 and 25 September, 2011 in association with Government of Gujarat and its Tourism Corporation of Gujarat Ltd, with immense tourism potential of the Gujarat state.

With a view to promote Gujarat tourism sector, government is very keen to exploit each and every opportunity comes in the way, Gujarat Tourism intends to launch structured B2B meeting during the course of the 27th annual convention-cum-exhibition. In a four day event, there will be inauguration on 22nd, 23 and 24 will be B2B convention and exhibition and it will be concluded on 25th. The 27th annual convention will certainly help Gujarat in enhancing the numbers of foreign tourists in times to come. The venue for the convention’s activities will be Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre that has the capacity to host 7,000 delegates.

Gujarat Toruism Minister shree Jay Naryan Vyas will also be present on the occasion. IATO’S Convention will offer a great opportunity to the travel and tourism industry in India. With several travel options available in India, now Gujarat’s tourism business will be in for a surprise as far as IATO is concerned. It reinforces the commitment of all the tourism industry towards the success of the spirit in the development of tourism.

In this IATO’s 27th Annual Convention, there will be much larger participation from all over India and joint efforts by IATO and Gujarat Government will certainly go a long way in promoting international tourism in Gujarat. This will be rather B2B Road Show; for promoting Destination Gujarat. In this the focus is on generating awareness and sharing destination information with the Tour Operators and Agents across the country.

With rapid growth in the tourism sector, the challenges before the tourism industry have also grown in equal measure for which the role of IATO is commendable. The global tourism industry today is looking at the IATO to tap business opportunities, which will also be an ideal platform to showcase incredible India and Gujarat and hence the Gujarat is also looking for the good business for its very fast growing tourism sector in the state.

The Indian Association of Tour Operators (IATO) is the National apex body of the tourism industry. It has over 4000 members covering all segments of Tourism Industry. IATO organizes its annual convention in the month of August/September every year. IATO’s annual conventions also blessed with the presence of Union Tourism Minister, Hon’ble Chief Minister of the Host State and Tourism Ministers of all participating states.

IATO’s last annual convention was held in September, 2010 in Udaipur, which was a grand success. During this convention they had a participation of over 1200 delegates from all over the country. They had a participation of 12 states and Tourism Ministers and Secretary/MD Tourism of all these states were present.

IATO conventions are considered one of the best platforms by the state governments to promote both Inbound and Domestic Tourism as tour operators from all part of the country gather during the convention and see the potential of the host state.

As Gujarat Government is making all its efforts in promoting international and domestic tourism and has been on the forefront in the last couple of years and had organized various events like Vibrant Gujarat, Gujarat Travel Mart, Rann Utsav, Kite Festival, Navratri Festival, Saputara Monsoon Festival etc. to show its rich culture, heritage and scenic beauty to the travellers.

Grabbing this extreme opportunity, Gujarat Tourism will be benefited by tremendous publicity as host state through Press and media coverage throughout the country. Logo of Gujarat Tourism would be prominently displayed on all the convention publicity material, brochures, back drop, invitations, IATO website, programme diary etc.

Moreover, the first opening business session would be dedicated to showcase the Gujarat Tourism and investment potential in the state.
