Shri Modi says Gujarat has left no stone unturned to work towards empowerment of women

Shri Modi asks anti-Gujarat elements to stop convoluting figures and hurting the sensibilities of the women of Gujarat!

Gujarat Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi greeted Indians across the world on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan. Shri Modi was speaking at a function to celebrate Raksha Bandhan at Gandhinagar.

The Chief Minister pointed out that in our Indian culture every festival has its own importance in society. He said that Raksha Bandhan is a festival whose ways of celebrating has changed through the years but its novelty and core values to saluting the power of Nari Shakti (Woman Power) have remained constant over all these years and is enthusiastically celebrated from Kashmir till Kanyakumari. He stated that in history, Raksha Bandhan was used for sealing state alliances and peace, it was a brother’s pledge to protect her sister and was a festival even followed by Mata Kunti in history.

Paying rich tributes to Nari Shakti, Shri Modi said that Gujarat has left no stone unturned to enhance empowerment of women across the state. He gave examples of various initiatives of the Gujarat Government and the difference they have made at the ground level. The Chiranjeevi Yojana has ushered a new paradigm in maternal health and thanks to the 108 Service more than 30,000 women had successful childbirths without compromising the health of the mother and the child. Shri Modi spoke on the Kanya Kelavani initiative that brought a major change in the field of girl child education. He stated that drop out rate has reduced to 2% and 100% school enrollment has been achieved in Gujarat. At the same time, free bus service and bicycles have been provided to girl children to ensure they can get opportunities to study.

The Chief Minister came down heavily on the canards that were being spread by anti-Gujarat elements in the last few days. He dared those spreading lies that since they control the Government in Delhi and the neighboring Union Territories of Daman & Diu and Dadra & Nagar Haveli, they should first try and execute the ideas they have been boldly promoting through newspaper advertisements in the last few days.

Shri Modi also spoke about the recent lies that were being spread on the missing children. He said that among children aged 0 to 14, 90% of them had returned home but wondered why nobody was talking about it. He expressed confidence that the women and children of Gujarat will not be fooled by such malicious propaganda by vested interests. He asked these elements not to convolute statistics and hurt the sensibilities of the women of Gujarat.
