प्रधानमंत्री श्री नरेन्द्र मोदी अफगानिस्तान के राष्ट्रपति डॉ. अशरफ ग़नाई को पत्र लिखकर अफगानिस्तान के विभिन्न भागों में हिमखंड गिरने से हुई जनहानि पर शोक व्यक्त किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि ''अफगानिस्तान के विभिन्न भागों में हिमखंड गिरने से हुई व्यापक जनहानि से मुझे गहरा दुख हुआ है। भारत और अफगानिस्तान के लोगों के बीच प्रेम और मैत्री के विशेष संबंधों को देखते हुए इस त्रासदी ने हमें प्रभावित किया है।
मैं भारत के लोगों की ओर से अफगानिस्तान के शोक संतप्त परिवारों और समुदायों के प्रति गहन संवेदना व्यक्त करता हूं। कृपया यह सुनिश्चित करें कि लोग दुख की इस घड़ी में हमारी प्रार्थनाओं और भावनाओं को महसूस करें।
मुझे आप के नेतृत्व और अफगानिस्तान के लोगों की योग्यता पर पूरा विश्वास है कि वे इस आपदा का सामना कर सकेंगे। मैंने अपने राजदूत से कहा है कि वह आपके मार्ग दर्शन में अपेक्षित सहायता पहुंचा सकें''।
