Austrian Chancellor welcomes upcoming visit of Indian PM, PM Modi responds

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today thanked the Chancellor of Austria Karl Nehammer for his views on the upcoming State Visit, a first in over 40 years by an Indian PM. The Austrian Chancellor remarked "This visit is a special honour as it marks the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister in over forty years, and a significant milestone as we celebrate 75 years of diplomatic relations with India."

Shri Modi responded that he looked forward to discussions on strengthening the bonds and exploring new avenues of cooperation during this historic occasion.

Shri Modi responding to a post of Chancellor Nehammer on X wrote:

“Thank you, Chancellor @karlnehammer. It is indeed an honour to visit Austria to mark this historic occasion. I look forward to our discussions on strengthening the bonds between our nations and exploring new avenues of cooperation. The shared values of democracy, freedom and rule of law form the bedrock upon which we will build an ever closer partnership.”

PM announces ex-gratia from PMNRF

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed profound grief over the tragic mishap in Katihar, Bihar, describing the incident as extremely painful.

The Prime Minister extended his heartfelt condolences to the families who have lost their loved ones and prayed for the earliest recovery of those who sustained injuries. Shri Modi further announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased, noting that Rs. 50,000 would be provided to those injured in the accident.

The Prime Minister wrote on X:

"The mishap in Katihar, Bihar, is extremely painful. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000."
