PM Modi says the project initiated today at Talcher and Jharsuguda are part Odisha’s development process

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today addressed a public meeting at Jharsuguda in Odisha. At the event, PM Modi said, “I was blessed to get the opportunity to launch the Jharsuguda Airport and dedicate the Garjanbahal coal mines to the nation.”

Emphasizing that connectivity was vital for development of any region, the PM said, “Connectivity has the power to eradicate any form of regional discrimination. Whether it is the villages thriving in the remote corners of the border or within tribal regions, greater connectivity will bring greater development,” said PM Modi.

Lashing out at the Odisha state government for their lackluster approach, PM Modi questioned CM Shri Naveen Patnaik on his government’s stand to not roll out Ayushman Bharat in the state. PM Modi alleged the Odisha state government to be non-cooperative and held it responsible for the state’s slow rate of progress.

“Corruption and delay in timely decisions is continuing to obstruct Odisha's development”, PM Modi said adding, “Before BJP formed Government at the Centre, Odisha received Rs 82,000 crore in five years. But we raised the amount to almost Rs 2 lakh crore but sadly, no work can be seen on ground.”

Speaking about the farmer friendly measures undertaken by the BJP-led NDA Governemnt at Centre, PM Modi highlighted about the steps taken for increasing the MSP by 1.5 times the cost of production for kharif crpops. The step, he said, would immensely benefit the farmers of Odisha who cultivate rice and maize.

PM Modi asserted that it was the NDA Government’s endeavor to provide the kind of respect, rights and development that Odisha deserved and the projects initiated at Talcher and Jharsuguda were part of this process.

PM Modi’s departure statement as he Embarks on Malaysia visit
February 07, 2026

I am embarking on an Official Visit to Malaysia at the invitation of my friend, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim today.

The historic ties between India and Malaysia have seen steadfast progress in recent years. I look forward to my discussions with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and further enhancing our Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. We will aim to deepen our defence and security ties, enhance our economic and innovation partnership, and expand our collaboration into new domains.

I am also eager to meet the Indian community in Malaysia. Numbering nearly three million, they represent one of the largest Indian diasporas in the world. Their immense contribution to Malaysia’s progress and their role as a living bridge between our two nations provides a strong foundation to our historic friendship.
