Dear Friends,
The passing away of Neil Armstrong marks the end of an era! When I read the news of his unfortunate demise my mind went back many years ago when I was visiting USA. Among the many people I wanted to meet, I was particularly keen to meet the man who was the first person to step on the moon.
Fortunately we were able to have a meeting, which was memorable and one in which Mr. Armstrong spoke to me with immense warmth. During the meeting I asked him if he can summarize his experience in 2 sentences and what he said then remains edged in my memory. Mr. Armstrong said, “When I went to the moon, I went as an astronaut but when I came back, I came as a human being. This is my realization”
Friends, it was Neil Armstrong’s small step that created a new universe for mankind! On his demise, his family released a statement whose conclusion perfectly encapsulates the essence of the man himself- "For those who may ask what they can do to honor Neil, we have a simple request. Honor his example of service, accomplishment and modesty, and the next time you walk outside on a clear night and see the moon smiling down at you, think of Neil Armstrong and give him a wink."
