Narendra Modi, the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate for the next Lok Sabha elections, speaking at a rally in Rewari in the presence of Ex-Servicemen delivered a rousing speech evoking patriotism in those present and boosting the morale of those perhaps watching from a distance.

Narendra Modi’s speech started off an personal note as he related an anecdote on how his family could not afford to send him to Sainik School. Going on to describe how he served tea to soldiers in Mehsana without the knowledge of his family, Narendra Modi sought to establish a personal connect with his audience. The highlight of Narendra Modi’s speech was his appeal to Pakistan to give up the Path of Terror and to focus on its Economic Development for the next 10 years. Narendra Modi also sought to transcend the divisive and polarizing political debate on Secularism by praising his audience for being the finest examples of Secularism in practice in India. Far more than the rhetorical flourish of Narendra Modi, it was the electric connect that Narendra Modi had established with the audience that should worry the Congress led UPA the most.

His speech concluded on a familiar note as he exhorted the crowd to take up Voter Registration in a big way while calling upon the Youth to look up to Ex-Servicemen as inspiration.

Reminding his audience of Sardar Patel’s contribution in integration the Nation, Narendra Modi delivered his own version of Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan by asking the ex-servicemen to contribute to the Statue of Unity by collecting Iron from used agricultural tools and implements.

Narendra Modi’s first campaign appearance in Congress ruled Haryana should have the UPA seriously worried for it stood as a stark reminder of its own Leadership Vacuum even as Narendra Modi led the charged from the front while flanked on all sides by former Soldiers and Generals.
