Gujarat Chief Minister announces Rs.1,245-crore on new works for Junagadh district

Narendra Modi’s call “Give me support, I will give you development” to move on from Swaraj to Surajya

Ahmadabad, Monday: Recalling Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose’s famous slogan “Give me blood, I will give you Independence” on his birth anniversary, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today gave a call for “Give me support, I will give you development”.

Paying his rich tribute to Netaji on his birth anniversary, Mr. Modi said that brave leaders and great souls are born in every age but Netaji stood out as the tallest freedom fighter who just refused to toe the line of one family. Now that we have attained Independence, it is now our onerous duty to move on from Swaraj (Self-Rule) to Surajya (Good Governance).

Mr. Modi was rounding up his day-long Sadbhavna fast at at Somnath in Junagadh district, which coincided with Netaji’s birth anniversary. He began his fast after paying his obeisance at the famous Somnath temple on the auspicious occasion of Somvati Amavasya, New Moon falling on a Monday.

He recalled how the Somnath temple repeatedly withstood invaders’ bloodbath. He complimented the local Muslims as a measure of Sadbhavna gave their land for the development of the Somnath temple. He said that his Sadbhavna mission has joined the people through unity, peace and brotherhood, to take the state to new heights, irrespective of media taking cognizance of unprecedented support people are extending. Over 7,000 people from different regions of Sorath region joined him in his fast

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat’s 1,600-km long coastline has greatly contributed to the development as the gateway of the nation, and in the last 15 years the state has undergone a facelift. While the state’s fishermen contribute to the nation’s economy, he regretted that the Centre is oblivion to hundreds of Gujarati fishermen languishing in Pakistan jails.

He announced on the occasion new development works worth Rs.1,245-crore for Junagadh district. He had earlier announced a package of Rs,1,100-crore for Junagadh city.
