Group of Buddhist monks pay courtesy visit to CM

Monks praise state govt for conserving Buddhist cultural heritage in Gujarat

A group of Buddhist monks paid courtesy visit to chief minister Narendra Modi today. The group comprising the monks from Sri Lanka, Thailand and Burma was led by Bhante Prashil Ratna, the founder of Sanghkaya foundation of Nagpur.

Chief Minister apprised the monks of the state government’s measurers for the conservation of Buddhist ruins at the places like Devni Mori, Targa caves and Vadnagar.

Chief Minister said the state government has also talked with the governments of Sri Lanka, China and Japan about the state’s efforts for keeping alive the Buddhist heritage in Gujarat. He also expressed desire to build a world-class majestic Buddhist temple in Gujarat.

The monks who are on a visit to Gujarat praised Gujarat government for its efforts for the conservation of cultural heritage of Buddhism. They expressed faith that Gujarat has a potential of becoming a Buddhist centre for spiritual awakening.
