Think of national festivals such as Republic Day and Independence Day and the first thing that comes to one’s mind is top Government officials unfurling the Tricolour in the confines of the state capital. This is followed by routine performances by school children and the celebration concludes. Gujarat also celebrated national holidays in this mundane manner till Shri Narendra Modi ushered in a breath of fresh air and started a completely revolutionary practice of celebrating these occasions of national pride and honor.

Now every national occasion, be it Republic Day or Independence Day is celebrated in one of the districts of Gujarat among the people. Shri Modi, top bureaucrats and other officials go to the respective district and Ministers cover the rest of the districts for the celebrations. The celebrations do not begin and end with flag hoisting but are spread across two days and involve series of programmes that showcase the cultural diversity of the district and the state of Gujarat.

Continuing this practice, the state level celebrations of the 64th Republic Day were held in the Dang district from 25th to 26th January 2013 during which Shri Narendra Modi attended several programmes including a cultural programme, dedicated development works and participated in the parade and Tricolour hoisting on the morning of 26th January. As Shri Modi himself pointed out, for a small Gram Panchayat (Ahwa) that is a part of a Tribal dominated district (Dang) to host the state level Republic Day celebrations is a remarkable feat in our nation’s history!

Last year, Shri Narendra Modi promised to create new Talukas and districts that would give a new pace to the development journey of Gujarat. This promise was fulfilled when the Gujarat Cabinet approved creation of 7 new districts and 22 new Talukas.

For Dang district, 1 new Taluka was to be created but after the request of the people, 2 Talukas of Subir and Vagai will be created.

Time and again, the Gujarat Government under the visionary leadership of Shri Narendra Modi has shown that this is a Government that is fully in sync with the pulse of the people. A month back the state was in the midst of elections. Hardly did the dust of the poll mania settle that the state Government was immersed in preparing for the Vibrant Gujarat Summit and here it was, at the feet of Tribal communities in Dang 10 days after the Vibrant Summit. Shri Modi has inspired a proactive Government and his Mantra of P2G2 (Pro-people, pro-active Good Governance) is truly an inspiration for people across the nation!
