Danish Water Forum opens base in Gujarat

The Danish Water Forum Operational Base was inaugurated at the campus of Gujarat Water Supply & Sewerage Board by Shri Babubhai Bokhiriya, Hon’ble Minister  (Water Supply), Govt. of Gujarat in the presence of H.E. Mr. Freddy Svane, Ambassador of Denmark to India.  This is very significant that one of this major scandavian Water Organisation has chosen Gujarat as its base for the first time in whole of India.  This is in fulfillment of the MoU signed by Govt. of Gujarat in recently concluded Vibrant Gujarat Global Investment Summit in presence of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

Hon’ble Minister (Water Supply) Shri Babubhai Bokhiriya said that the Govt. of Gujarat is committed to provide clean  and potable drinking water to all villages and cities in the State.  The number of fluoride affected habitations has reduced from 4187 to just 40 during last few years due to establishment of Gujarat State Wide drinking water Grid network under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi.

The Ambassador of Denmark HE Mr. Freddy Svane highlighted the water expertise, knowledge, competence and high standard of Danish Water Forum making it a perfect organization to serve and strengthen the water distribution systems in Gujarat.

Rajkot Mayor Shri. Janak Bhai Kotak said that Danish Water Forum is undertaking a pilot project in Rajkot city to prevent water losses and strengthen the local water distribution systems.  The ultimate aim would include water audit, estimation of leakage amount and reduction of Non Revenue Water (NRW) based on the most state of art technology and extensive international experience.

The Danish Water Forum Spokesman Shri Anshul Jain said that they have selected Gujarat as their destination due to pragmatic leadership provided by Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi in creating unparalleled State Wide Water Grid that is the biggest of its kind in the World.

The Danish Water Forum is a research based network aiming at highlighting and promoting water expertise and knowledge and facilitating concerted actions.  The objective of Danish Water Forum is to strengthen the water sector, nationally and internationally within water resources, clean water and waste water by promotion of easy access to knowledge and competence on water, thereby strengthening the quality and competitiveness of the water sector. Another important objective is to strengthening cooperation in the water sector between water utilities and research institutions and promoting the important role of water and its links to other sectors such as energy and health for social development for a cleaner environment.

This event marked a perfect occasion on the World Water Day in the International Year of Water Cooperation declared by United Nations.

Prime Minister welcomes understanding between the United States and Iran on ending conflict in West Asia

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has welcomed the understanding reached between the United States and Iran on ending the conflict in West Asia.

The Prime Minister noted that the conflict has caused serious economic disruption across the world and led to loss of life in many countries.

The Prime Minister expressed hope that the implementation of this understanding will help restore peace and stability in the region and ensure the freedom of navigation and commerce.

Shri Modi also said that India looks forward to deliberations on the remaining issues reaching a sustainable final agreement.

In a post on X, Shri Modi said;

“I welcome the understanding reached between the United States and Iran on ending the conflict in West Asia, which has caused serious economic disruption across the world and led to loss of life in many countries.

India hopes that the implementation of this understanding will help restore peace and stability in the region and ensure the freedom of navigation and commerce.

We look forward to deliberations on the remaining issues reaching a sustainable final agreement.”
