K Srinivas, an IAS Officer, recalled a moment when Narendra Modi was supposed to inaugurate new Gujarat Secretariat building but instead invited his peon to inaugurate the building. Srinivas said that appreciating the efforts of the smallest man in nation building was in the heart of everything that Modi did.
In a video Srinivas narrated the entire instance how Narendra Modi asked him to find out and invite the oldest peon working in the secretariat to inaugurate the new building.
Secretariat’s senior most Class IV employee, Shri SavjibhaiDamor lit the ceremonial lamp on the occasion in the presence of Narendra Modi.
Srinivas said, “When he was the Chief Minister, we had built new set of buildings in Gujarat Secretariat. They were called SwarnimSankul I and II because Gujarat state had turned 50. When the question of inaugurating this new building came up, CM asked me to identify the name of the oldest peon who had been working here in the Gujarat Secretariat. Call him. He will be the one who will inaugurate this building. Hence, this old gentleman, who served in the secretariat cut the ribbon.”
