State government today launched the first-of-its-kind ‘School Dropout Tracking System’ with a view to minimize the instances of school dropouts in the state. The system is based on a software that will keep track of students and will inform the teachers and parents about the students who are likely to drop out in the middle of their studies.

Chief Minister Mr. Narendra Modi, while launching the system in Mahesana district on pilot basis, said the state government wishes to bring down the dropout cases to zero percent which is currently floating around 2-3% comparing to the scenario that existed a decade back when it was around 41%. He also expressed his desire to launch the system across the state.

On the concluding day of the statewide school enrollment campaign, Chief Minister today went to Sardarpur, Ranpur and Talegadh villages in the interior parts of Satlasana taluka of Mahesana district and participated in the enrollment of kids in primary schools and Anganwadis (play groups). He appreciated the enthusiastic support that people gave to the campaign and wished the government and society work hand-in-hand in educating the kids who are going to build the future of the state.

Referring to some ill comments that were passed against the enrollment campaign, Mr.Modi said those who are making such comments are suffering from jealousy. Nobody is stopping them from going to villages and working for the cause of primary education, but they can not think anything beyond making political statements.

In the desire of 'votes' the Governments in past neglected the issue of primary education but we don't want to move ahead with such blotchy condition. When people take enough care for their cattle; remaining indifferent to the education of children is no way affordable", Chief Minister said.
