A Brief on Pashu Arogya Mela Abhiyaan-2010

Animal Husbandry plays vital role in rural economy as well as health status of human being, as milk is the only source of animal protein for vegetarians. A healthy and producing livestock is prerequisite for profitable animal husbandry.

With an aim to provide animal health services including surgery, sexual health services, deworming, vaccination, artificial insemination as well as different extension services at village level, absolutely FREE to the state farmers, The Department of Animal Husbandry, Gujarat State has started "PASHU AROGYA MELA ABHIYAN" in 2002-03. In this campaign every year more than 2700 animal health camp are organized at village level and farmers from more than 10000 villages are benefited. To give benefits of this campaign to the maximum numbers of farmers; over and above A. H. department, local bodies, Dairy co-op unions, NGOs, Religious organizations and individual donors are involved for their valuable support. During this one month long campaign state farmers get all the valuable and life saving animal husbandry services even in the remote places from experts exclusively free.

This Pashu Arogya Mela Abhiyaan has proved like blessings for the state farmers, as due to intensive vaccination, out break of deadly animal diseases have been decreased significantly from 162 to only 49 per anum and also due to deworming health status of animals has improved and as a result production and productivity of the state animals have increased and ultimately more than sixteen lac farmers of the state have been benefited, since year 2002-03. Under this campaign, in last eight years, more than 85 lac animals have been treated for different diseases and more than 60 lac animals have been vaccinated against various fatal animal diseases.

This year, the department has planned to inaugurate this one month(from 21/11/2010 to 20/12/2010) long campaign from Petlad town of ANAND district by our Hon'le Chief Minister Shree Narendrabhai Modi, on 21/10/2010 (Dev Diwalee). During this one month tribe, treatment of 10 lac animals and vaccination of six lac animals at village level have been targeted. In addition, on the same day of animal health camp, various extension activities will be carried out to educate the farmers.

PM shares a Sanskrit Subhashitam emphasising the sacred occasion of Makar Sankranti

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today conveyed his wishes to all citizens on the auspicious occasion of Makar Sankranti.

The Prime Minister emphasized that Makar Sankranti is a festival that reflects the richness of Indian culture and traditions, symbolizing harmony, prosperity, and the spirit of togetherness. He expressed hope that the sweetness of til and gur will bring joy and success into the lives of all, while invoking the blessings of Surya Dev for the welfare of the nation.
Shri Modi also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam invoking the blessings of Lord Surya, highlighting the spiritual significance of the festival.
