Chief Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated India's first animal hostel in Akodara village of Sabarkantha district today. He said it is the revolutionary move in the cattle-rearing history of the nation.

The animal hostel will house all the 964 animals of the village and will be managed by public-partnership on a cooperative bases by around 215 cattle keeping families of the village. The hostel comprises 36 cattle-shades for animals. Villagers have sown pasturage in 50-hacter of land to provide nutritious fodder to animals. Women of Sakhimandala will prepare vermin-compost fertilizer out of animal dung while gobar-gas has been set up to meet the need of power. A modern dispensary has also been made for the treatment of the animals.
Chief Minister took visit to all the departments of the hostel and sought information of scientific methods of cattle-rearing.

While appreciating the residents of Akodra village Chief Minister said that their initiative has showed a new path to the country for cattle-rearing. It is only because of the trust government has on villagers that it has take up the task of starting animal hostel in villages on public-partnership, he said.

Chief Minister also called upon people to start such animal hostels in every village of the state.

The animal hostel will help increasing milk production besides giving employment to rural women. It will also lessen the stress of housewives in the village as they will not need to remain engaged with their cattle for the whole day.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, said that Good Friday reminds us of the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

Shri Modi expressed hope that the day deepens the values of harmony, compassion and forgiveness.

He said that brotherhood and hope should guide everyone.

In a X post, Shri Modi said;

“Good Friday reminds us of Jesus Christ’s sacrifice. May this day further deepen the values of harmony, compassion and forgiveness. May brotherhood and hope guide us all.”
