As a part of the Vibrant Gujarat 2011 Summit, the Government of Gujarat and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) will tomorrow organize an Innovation Summit 2011 on the theme of ‘More for less for more'. The Innovation Summit will showcase some of the world-class innovations in rural innovations and explore the opportunities to uplift and enhance the living conditions of the common man. The main aim of the Innovation Summit is to understand the need for innovation, and the role of MSMEs in taking a lead on this with the aim of meeting the demands of the common man. The summit will also highlight case studies where innovations have been successfully commercialised, in India and abroad while encouraging the youth to move towards self employment generation.

In order to remain globally competitive, Indian corporates are adopting innovative techniques to meet the increasing needs and expectations of the consumers. However, to remain world-class, it is essential that industries effectively utilize their skills and proactively explore opportunity for innovating new solutions and quality products for the masses. The recession witnessed in 2008, acted as a catalyst for companies to innovate methods of cost saving and making cost efficient products. With the world still recovering from economic recession, and India playing a key role in it, the summit will discuss ways to further boost innovation both in Gujarat as well as the rest of India.
