"Before addressing a rally at Pasighat, Shri Narendra Modi met the families of the two deceased party workers of Dibrugarh district and extended condolences"

On the morning of 22nd February, before addressing a massive rally of supporters at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh, Shri Narendra Modi met the families of the two deceased party workers of Dibrugarh district, who had lost their lives while returning after attending the BJP rally in Guwahati.

Shri Modi extended his and the Party’s condolences to the bereaved families and stated that the BJP had provided financial assistance to the families of the karyakartas.

The State BJP had given Rs. 1 lakh to each of the deceased’s families on 16th February, while the families of other deceased or missing workers were given ad hoc financial assistance for treatment or tracing of the missing members.

The party workers who lost their lives are Late Gupi Gogoi and Ananta Hazarika, while Sri Moheswar Kharia went missing after the rally, and is still untraceable. 

After meeting the bereaved families, Shri Modi tweeted:

The leaders also exchange views on regional and global issues of mutual interest.
PM conveys that he looks forward to welcoming President Lula to India at an early date.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received a telephone call today from the President of the Federative Republic of Brazil, His Excellency Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen the India–Brazil Strategic Partnership and take it to even greater heights in the year ahead.

Recalling their meetings last year in Brasília and South Africa, the two leaders noted with satisfaction the significant progress achieved across diverse areas of bilateral cooperation, including trade and investment, technology, defence, energy, health, agriculture, and people-to-people ties.

The leaders also exchanged views on regional and global issues of mutual interest. They also underscored the importance of reformed multilateralism in addressing shared challenges.

Prime Minister Modi conveyed that he looked forward to welcoming President Lula to India at an early date.
