On Thursday 4th July 2013 Shri Narendra Modi travelled to New Delhi where he attended the meeting of the BJP Parliamentary Board at the BJP Headquarters. Top leaders of the party including Shri LK Advani, Shri Rajnath Singh, Smt. Sushma Swaraj and Shri Arun Jaitley were present during the meeting.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Shri Ananth Kumar said that the Parliamentary Board expressed condolence over the loss of life in Uttarakhand and expressed concern over the manner in which relief work is going on under the state Government. Shri Kumar announced aid of Rs. 5 lakh from the BJP to the army and ITBP personnel who lost their lives in the unfortunate copter crash in Uttarakhand. He said that on 16th July Prarthna Sabhas will be held at the District and Tehsil level to express support with the people of Uttarakhand.

On behalf of the Parliamentary Board, Shri Ananth Kumar pointed that the BJP is opposed to the ordinance route vis-à-vis the food security bill. The hidden agenda behind this manner was questioned.

Shri Kumar shared that the Parliamentary Board and meeting of other Mahamantris discussed preparations for the upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections and Lok Sabha elections in great detail. The misuse of the CBI against political opponents was discussed by the Parliamentary Board. The Board would hold another meeting on 8th July, Shri Kumar said.

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has expressed deep anguish over the mishap in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.

Shri Modi said that he is distressed to hear about the incident and extended his heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the mishap.
