BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate Shri Narendra Modi condoled the passing away of renowned social worker and former Union Minister Shri Mohan Dharia. Shri Mohan Dharia breathed his last in Pune on Monday 14th October 2013.
Sharing his condolences on Twitter, Narendra Modi ji wrote:

Narendra Modi had visited Shri Mohan Dharia’s Vanrai institute in March 2012 during a visit to Pune. Shri Modi had shared his insight on the development of villages and praised the initiatives being undertaken under the visionary guidance of Shri Mohan Dharia. Modi ji talked about how Gujarat mitigated the water and electricity problems in the state, which had helped the people of Gujarat.
During the same function, Shri Mohan Dharia praised the development of Gujarat under Shri Modi’s leadership. Shri Dharia had stated that he would be very happy if Shri Modi gets to serve the nation as the PM as he can ensure good administration and good governance in the nation. Shri Dharia.
Shri Mohan Dharia was in public life for several decades. He participated in the freedom movement and was elected to both houses of Parliament. During his Parliamentary career he served as Minister too. Shri Mohan Dharia came out strongly against the Emergency. He served as Deputy Chairman of the Planning Commission in 1990-1991 and was conferred the Padma Vibhushan by the Government of India.
