Ahmedabad, March 12: Meet between delegations of Saskatchewan-Canada under the leadership of Premier Mr. Brad Wall and Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi today agreed to expand sphere of cooperation in various sector which aims to strengthen bilateral relationships for mutual benefits.
Gujarat CM held one-to-one meet with Saskatchewan Premier in Ahmedabad today. He said visits of commercial and industrial delegations across the countries formed a bridge of cooperation; they also devised a strategy to work together in various sectors, before Canada preferred to be a partner country at Vibrant Gujarat Global Investor's Summit. Captains of Canadian industries took part in Global Investors Summit -2009. Enterprise and Innovation Minister of Canada toured Gujarat in Feb. 2009. Around 2 Lakh Gujaratis are settled in Canada. They celebrated Gujarat-Day at Toronto in June 2010. CM further added that a delegation from Saskatchewan had inked MoU intending to produce fertilisers from solid-waste in 2011. He expressed confidence that the relationship is to scale new heights in the coming days.
Highlighting the bright prospects of cooperation in various sectors, CM added Gujarat emerged as the Petro-Capital of our country, having 126 gas-oil fields out of the 402, it being the highest crude producer and second largest producer of natural gas in the country. CM expressed keenness for joint venture in oil-gas explorations. The raw diamond may be processed in Gujarat.
Mr. Brad Wall, Premier of Saskatchewan, appreciated Chief Minister's vision for growth. Economic opportunities exist in both the States. Catching change in market Saskatchewan and Gujarat can progress together. Canada has technological prowess in oil-gas and hydrocarbon explorations, he desired to expand cooperation in sectors like energy security, agro-biotech education and mining technologies.
Mr. Wall was accompanied by Deputy Minister, Canadian High Commissioner, Consul General, senior officials and industrialists.
MoUs were inked by Gujarat Government, Gujarat Mineral Development Corporation, Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University, iNDEXTb and Charutar Vidya Mandal. Principal Secretary Industries M. Sahu in a video presentation said that a balanced economic growth of agriculture, industry and service sectors is the core strengths of Gujarat.
