Four flames lit by PM last year as part of Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations have traversed the length and breadth of the country
These flames will be merged by PM with the Eternal Flame at National War Memorial

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will participate in the Homage & Reception Ceremony of Swarnim Vijay Mashaals at National War Memorial on 16 December, 2021 at around 10:30 AM.

As a part of the Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebrations to commemorate 50 years of India’s victory in 1971 war and formation of Bangladesh, on 16 December last year, Prime Minister lit the Swarnim Vijay Mashaal from the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial. He also lit four flames that were to traverse along different directions. Since then, these four flames have traversed across the length and breadth of the country, including to Siachen, Kanyakumari, Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Longewala, Rann of Kutch, Agartala etc. The flames were taken to key battle areas and also to the houses of gallantry award winners and veterans of 1971 war.

On 16 December 2021, during the Homage Ceremony, these four flames will be merged by the Prime Minister with the Eternal Flame at the National War Memorial.

PM announces ex-gratia from Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives in a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. Shri Modi conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.

Shri Modi also announced an ex-gratia of ₹2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) to the next of kin of each deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured.

The Prime Minister posted on X;

Extremely saddened by the loss of lives due to a mishap at a firecracker factory in Kaushambi, Uttar Pradesh. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. May the injured recover at the earliest.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi
