Government of India has decided to launch a massive rural public works scheme ‘Garib Kalyan Rojgar Abhiyaan’to empower and provide livelihood opportunities to the returnee migrant workers and rural citizens. PM Modi will launch this Abhiyaan on 20th June, 2020 at 11 am through Video-Conference in presence of the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar. The Abhiyaan will be launched from Village – Telihar, Block- Beldaur of Khagaria District of Bihar. Further, the Chief Ministers of other five States and Union Ministers of concerned Ministries will also participate in the virtual launch.

The villages across 116 districts in the six States will join this programme through the Common Service Centres and Krishi Vigyan Kendras, maintaining the norms of social distancing in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This campaign of 125 days, which will work in mission mode, will involve intensified and focused implementation of 25 different types of works to provide employment to the migrant workers on one hand and create infrastructure in the rural regions of the country on the other hand, with a resource envelope of Rs. 50,000 crore.

A total of 116 Districts with more than 25,000 returnee migrant workers across six States, namely Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Jharkhand and Odisha have been chosen for the campaign which includes 27 Aspirational Districts. These districts are estimated to cover about 2/3 of such migrant workers.

The Abhiyaan will be a coordinated effort between 12 different Ministries/Departments, namely, Rural Development, Panchayati Raj, Road Transport & Highways, Mines, Drinking Water & Sanitation, Environment, Railways, Petroleum & Natural Gas, New & Renewable Energy, Border Roads, Telecom and Agriculture.

Prime Minister extends Holi greetings to the nation; shares Sanskrit Subhashitam

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, extended his heartfelt greetings to the people of the country on the occasion of Holi. He wished that this festival of colours and joy brings happiness, prosperity and success into everyone’s lives.

The Prime Minister said that the festival of Holi fills the entire atmosphere with new energy, which is its greatest speciality. He noted that the vibrant colours of happiness visible everywhere during the festival immerse everyone in a spirit of joy and celebration.

The Prime Minister also shared a Sanskrit Subhashitam-

उद्भिन्नस्तबकावतंससुभगाः प्रे खन्मरुन्नर्तिताः
पुष्पोद्गीर्णपरागपांशुललसत्पत्रप्रकाण्ड त्विषः।

गम्भीरक्रमपञ्चमोन्मदपिकध्वानोच्छलद्गीतयः
प्रत्युज्जीवितमन्मथोत्सव इव क्रीडन्त्यमू भूरुहः॥

The Shubhashitam conveys that Like beautiful lotus flowers, blossoming under the mesmerizing dance of the spring breeze, adorned with vibrant colors and fragrance, the glorious celebration of love flourishes exuberantly, filled with joyful melodies that awaken life itself.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

“सभी देशवासियों को होली की अनंत शुभकामनाएं। रंग और उमंग से भरा यह त्योहार सबके लिए खुशियों की बहार लेकर आए। हर किसी के जीवन में सुख-समृद्धि और सफलता के रंगों की बौछार हो, यही कामना है।”

“होली का त्योहार पूरे माहौल में नई ऊर्जा भर देता है। यही इस उत्सव की बड़ी विशेषता है। हर तरफ जिस प्रकार खुशियों के रंग बिखरे नजर आते हैं, वो हर किसी को उल्लास और आनंद से सराबोर कर जाता है।
