Prime Minister Narendra Modi to deliver ‘State of the World’ special address at WEF’s Davos Agenda on 17th January

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi will deliver ‘State of the World’ special address at the World Economic Forum’s Davos Agenda on 17th January, 2022 at 8:30 PM IST via video conferencing.

The virtual event will be held from 17th to 21st January 2022. It will also be addressed by several Heads of State including Kishida Fumio, Prime Minister of Japan; Ursua von der Leyen, President of the European Commission; Scott Morrison, Prime Minister of Australia; Joko Widodo, President of Indonesia; Naftali Bennett, Prime Minister of Israel; Xi Jinping, President of the People's Republic of China among others. The event will also witness participation of top industry leaders, international organizations and civil society, who will deliberate on critical challenges being faced by the world today and discuss how to address them.

Prime Minister condoles loss of lives in a mishap in Surat, Gujarat

PM announces ex-gratia from PMNRF

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today expressed deep pain over the tragic mishap in Surat district, Gujarat. He extended his heartfelt condolences to those who have lost their loved ones and prayed for the earliest recovery of the injured. The Prime Minister noted that rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance at the accident site.

The Prime Minister has announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF) for the next of kin of each deceased. Shri Modi also noted that Rs. 50,000 would be provided to those who sustained injuries in the incident.

The Prime Minister posted on X:

"Deeply pained to hear about a mishap in Surat district, Gujarat. My condolences to those who have lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Rescue operations are underway and authorities are providing all possible assistance at the accident site.
