Morning of June 06th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flight touched down at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka marking the beginning of his two-day visit to Bangladesh. Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina herself received PM Modi at the airport breaking the protocol. Just after landing, PM tweeted in Bangla thanking PM Hasina for the warm reception and hoped to expand the India-Bangladesh ties further.

Connecting both the Nations and enhancing the people to people ties, PM Modi and PM Hasina of Bangladesh flagged off Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala, Agartala-Dhaka-Kolkata and Dhaka to Guwahati bus services from Dhaka. The Chief Minister of West Bengal Mamata Banerjee was also present at the occasion. He, PM Hasina and West Bengal CM and met with the passengers on board.

 
 

The Land Boundary Agreement was exchanged between India and Bangladesh in the presence of both the Prime Ministers. PM Modi termed the moment to be historic and expressed his part of content upon resolving the border question that lingered for years.

22 other important agreements were also signed between both the Nations.

At the joint Press Conference, PM Modi said that both India and Bangladesh were successful fellow travellers on the road to development. He once again expressed immense joy about the settled boundary issues that existed for years and other agreements that would boost the ties between both the Nations. Shri Modi said that an enhanced India-Bangladesh relation held great importance for the entire region.

Prime Minister highlights 12 years of transformative initiatives centered on Garib Kalyan and human empowerment

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today highlighted that over the last 12 years, India has witnessed many transformations, stating that at the core of these changes is the welfare of the poor and downtrodden. The Prime Minister noted that the government has always been inspired by Antyodaya and its effort has always been to ensure that the benefits of development reach those who were left behind for decades.

Shri Modi observed that from Jan Dhan accounts and Direct Benefit Transfer to Swachh Bharat, PM Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Ayushman Bharat and more, every initiative has been driven by a simple objective of ensuring people have dignity and opportunity.

The Prime Minister expressed gladness that technology has played a vital role in ensuring a better quality of life for the poor. Shri Modi pointed out that through Direct Benefit Transfer and digital platforms, support is reaching people directly and transparently. The Prime Minister affirmed that this has reduced leakages, improved efficiency, and strengthened trust in governance, adding that this is how the journey of furthering Garib Kalyan has become a collective movement towards human empowerment and realising the dream of a Viksit Bharat.
