PM condoles the passing of Shri Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay Ji

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the passing of Shri Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay Ji.

PM hailed him as a towering figure in Bengali literature whose words portrayed the lives of people with sensitivity and insight.

In a post on X, Shri Modi said:

“Deeply saddened by the passing of Shri Mani Shankar Mukhopadhyay Ji, fondly known as Shankar.

He was a towering figure in Bengali literature whose words portrayed the lives of people with sensitivity and insight. Through his unforgettable works, he impacted generations of readers and enriched India’s literary world.

My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and countless admirers. Om Shanti.”

President of Sri Lanka, Anura Kumara Dissanayake meets Prime Minister

Sri Lankan, President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi in New Delhi, reaffirming the strong friendship between India and Sri Lanka.

The two leaders reviewed the progress in India–Sri Lanka relations in recent times and discussed avenues of cooperation in areas such as energy, connectivity, infrastructure, healthcare, skilling, culture, the blue economy, and other sectors of mutual interest.

The Prime Minister said in X post;

“Strengthening friendship with a valued neighbour!

It was wonderful meeting President Anura Kumara Dissanayake in Delhi. We took stock of the progress in India-Sri Lanka relations in the recent times. We also discussed avenues of cooperation in areas such as energy, connectivity, infrastructure, healthcare, skilling, culture, blue economy and more.
