PM Modi continued his campaigning for the upcoming elections in Gujarat. In his first address at Kankrej, PM Modi talked about the economic and religious importance of cows in India. In his second address at Patan, PM Modi spoke on the assured win for the BJP in Gujarat. PM Modi in his third address for the day focused on the spirit of Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat. In his last address at Ahmedabad, PM Modi spoke on the contributions of the people of Gujarat in building the nation.

Highlights from the Kankrej Public Meeting

Hitting out at the opposition, PM Modi slammed the Congress for stalling development in Gujarat for decades. PM Modi said, “There has been a firm identity of the Congress – to stall, to hang, to wander. Whatever the work, Congress sees its own interest first, and the interest of the country later”. PM Modi added that Congress failed to understand the problems faced by the farmers and said that many irrigation projects were stalled by them which only got completed after the BJP took power in the centre.

PM Modi iterated on a few examples of corruption undertaken by the Congress and said, “Congress used to do scams worth thousands and lakhs of crores. Congress had made corruption a courtesy”

PM Modi reminisced about his memories in Patan and told people about his life when he used to reside in Kagda ki Khadki. PM Modi also spoke on the BJP becoming a symbol of trust in the country, PM Modi said, “The country is confident that no matter how big the challenges are, only the BJP will find solutions”. PM Modi iterated on the efforts of the BJP government in providing vaccines, fiscal support and subsidies to the people during the COVID period.

Talking about the steps taken by the BJP Government to empower the role of women in society, PM Modi said, “The BJP government has taken several unprecedented decisions ranging from Beti Bachao, Beti Padhao to recruiting daughters in the army”. PM Modi further highlighted that the Bajra farmers of the Patan region will benefit massively through the International Year of Millets.

PM Modi finally addressed the people on the development undertaken in Gujarat in the past 20 years. PM Modi talked about the early adoption of solar energy by farmers in Gujarat. Adding to the development works, PM Modi said that Gujarat’s untapped potential in tourism is being holistically developed and will generate employment for the youth.

PM Modi called out the fallacies of the Congress for dividing Gujarat based on caste and throwing the state into turmoil. The PM further added that Congress continues to ignore the contributions of the great Sardar Patel to this date and targeted them for not paying their respects at the Statue of Unity.

PM Modi iterated on the mammoth size of the schemes launched by the BJP government during the COVID to safeguard the people from every adverse aspect possible. Talking about the effectiveness of the double-engine government in Gujarat, PM Modi gave a few examples of schemes that are uplifting the living standards of the people. PM Modi also accredited the dairy cooperative model of Anand to empower villages and the poor of the country.

PM Modi finally addressed the people on the strides Gujarat has taken in the education sector. PM Modi said, “20 years ago there were less than 1000 colleges in Gujarat, today there are more than 4000 colleges in Gujarat”. PM Modi further added, “Earlier the youth of Gujarat used to go to other states for higher education, but today youth from other states are coming here and studying”

Highlights from the Ahmedabad Public Meeting

PM Modi iterated on Gujarat achieving many feats and leading the country on many fronts, PM Modi said, “Be it social infrastructure or physical infrastructure, the people of Gujarat have presented an excellent model to the country”.

Slamming the opposition, PM Modi talked about how Congress failed to develop the nation for 70 years. PM Modi said, “Congress spent most of its time in familyism, appeasement and scams worth thousands of crores”. Offering a stark contrast, PM Modi elucidated the achievements of the BJP government. Talking about weeding out corruption from the system, PM Modi said, “Out of each 100 paise of the Congress government, only 15 paise used to reach the people. On the other hand, the BJP government has sent more than Rs 26 lakh crore directly to people's bank accounts through DBT”.

PM Modi iterated on various schemes that are alleviating the lives of the poor and providing a dignified way of life to many citizens. PM Modi also talked about the increase in India’s manufacturing prowess and gave an example of mobile phone manufacturing facilities in India. PM Modi finally addressed the people on BJP offering safety and security to the nation and protecting the country from terrorism. PM Modi ended his address by calling out for the highest voter turnout in the Gujarat elections.

English Translation of Foreign Secretary's statement on the telephone conversation between PM and US President
June 18, 2025

Prime Minister Modi and President Trump were scheduled to meet on the sidelines of the G7 Summit. However, President Trump had to return to the U.S. early, due to which this meeting could not take place.

After this, at the request of President Trump, both leaders spoke over a phone call today. The conversation lasted approximately 35 minutes.

President Trump had expressed his condolences to Prime Minister Modi over a phone call after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. And he also expressed his support against terrorism. This was the first conversation between the two leaders since.

Hence, Prime Minister Modi spoke in detail about Operation Sindoor with President Trump.

Prime Minister Modi told President Trump in clear terms that after April 22, India had conveyed its determination to take action against terrorism to the whole world. Prime Minister Modi said that on the night of May 6-7, India had only targeted the terrorist camps and hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan occupied Kashmir. India’s actions were very measured, precise, and non-escalatory. India had also made it clear that any act of aggression from Pakistan would be met with a stronger response.

On the night of May 9, Vice President Vance had made a phone call to Prime Minister Modi. Vice President Vance had conveyed that Pakistan may launch a major attack on India. Prime Minister Modi had conveyed to him in clear terms that if such an action were to occur, India would respond with an even stronger response.

On the night of May 9-10, India gave a strong and decisive response to Pakistan’s attack, inflicting significant damage on the Pakistani military. Their military airbases were rendered inoperable. Due to India’s firm action, Pakistan was compelled to request a cessation of military operations.

Prime Minister Modi clearly conveyed to President Trump that at no point during this entire sequence of events was there any discussion, at any level, on an India-U.S. Trade Deal, or any proposal for a mediation by the U.S. between India and Pakistan. The discussion to cease military action took place directly between India and Pakistan through the existing channels of communication between the two armed forces, and it was initiated at Pakistan's request. Prime Minister Modi firmly stated that India does not and will never accept mediation. There is complete political consensus in India on this matter.

President Trump listened carefully to the points conveyed by the Prime Minister and expressed his support towards India’s fight against terrorism. Prime Minister Modi also stated that India no longer views terrorism as a proxy war, but as a war itself, and that India’s Operation Sindoor is still ongoing.

President Trump enquired if Prime Minister Modi could stop over in the U.S. on his way back from Canada. Due to prior commitments, Prime Minister Modi expressed his inability to do so. Both leaders agreed to make efforts to meet in the near future.

President Trump and Prime Minister Modi also discussed the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran. Both leaders agreed that for peace in the Russia - Ukraine conflict, direct dialogue between the two parties is essential, and continued efforts should be made to facilitate this.

With regard to the Indo-Pacific region, both leaders shared their perspectives and expressed their support towards the significant role of QUAD in the region. Prime Minister Modi extended an invitation to President Trump to visit India for the next QUAD Summit. President Trump accepted the invitation and said that he is looking forward to visiting India.
