Ahmedabad: Thursday: Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi today described the Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh's not casting his vote in the Assam Assembly election despite being a voter in Assam as unfortunate for all of us.

Speaking after offering flowers in front of the statue of the architect of Constitution of India Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his birth anniversary at the Gujarat Legislative Assembly precinct at Gandhinagar, Mr. Modi said the Prime Minister failed to exercise his right to vote as enshrined in the Constitution.

The Chief Minister said that Dr Ambedkar's birthday is celebrated not just as festival of light by the Dalit but also by all those who believe in the Constitution. He has been a symbol of hope for all those who have been oppressed and persecuted all over the world for long.

Mr. Modi said that Gujarat Government is committed to all round growth of the have-nots, and constantly trying to tread the path shown by the towering personality to serve Dalit.

Others who offered flowers to Dr Ambedkar on the occasion included Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Fakirbhai Vaghela, Education Minister Ramanlal Vora and District Guardian Minister Parbatbhai Patel, among others.
