The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, today interacted with global oil and gas experts. The interaction, which lasted over two hours, also included Union Ministers Shri Arun Jaitley, Shri Piyush Goyal and Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog Shri Arvind Panagariya, besides top officials from the Government and NITI Aayog.
The discussions focused on subjects such as increasing the share of gas in India's energy mix, fresh investment in oil and gas exploration in India, regulatory frameworks, international acquisition of oil and gas assets, emerging areas such as shale gas and coal-bed methane, and the oil and gas sector related possibilities of "Make in India."
The Prime Minister emphasized his vision for a fresh look at the sector, to bring in investment, technological upgradation, and development of human resource.
The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed deep grief over the loss of lives due to an accident in Jhabua, Madhya Pradesh. Shri Modi also wished speedy recovery for those injured in the accident.
The Prime Minister announced an ex-gratia from PMNRF of Rs. 2 lakh to the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those injured.
