On evening of July 10th, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ashgabat, capital city of Turkmenistan. Shri Narendra Modi received a warm welcome.

Morning of July 11th, Prime Minister Modi’s day began with holding extensive talks with President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov of Turkmenistan. Various aspects of India-Turkmenistan cooperation were discussed by both the leaders. Delegation level meetings were also held.

Later in the day, PM Narendra Modi laid wreath at the Mausoleum of the First President. He also visited the National Monument for Independence.

Prime Minister Modi unveiled a bust of Mahatma Gandhi in Turkmenistan. Remembering Gandhi ji, the Prime Minister stated that solutions to two big problems faced by mankind today - terrorism and climate change, could be found in his the life and thoughts.

Shri Modi also inaugurated a Traditional Medicine & Yoga Centre in Ashgabat.

During the Joint Statement between India and Turkmenistan, PM Modi and President Berdimuhamedov stressed the need to strengthen institutional linkages between both Nations. India & Turkmenistan agreed to step up efforts against cross-border threats, terrorism and illegal drug- trafficking. Both India and Turkmenistan agreed upon working towards rapid enhancement in the levels of bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation.

Shri Narendra Modi also met a group of students in Turkmenistan who were learning Hindi. They sang a few patriotic songs. PM too shared it with all his admirers on twitter.

Concluding his visit, PM Narendra Modi termed it to be memorable and successful. He expressed satisfaction that India and Turkmenistan deepened cooperation in wide range of areas.

Cabinet approves and announces Productivity Linked Bonus (PLB) for 78 days to railway employees

In recognition of the excellent performance by the Railway staff, the Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has approved payment of PLB of 78 days for Rs. 2028.57 crore to 11,72,240 railway employees.

The amount will be paid to various categories, of Railway staff like Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsman, Ministerial staff and other Group C staff. The payment of PLB acts as an incentive to motivate the railway employees for working towards improvement in the performance of the Railways.

Payment of PLB to eligible railway employees is made each year before the Durga Puja/ Dusshera holidays. This year also, PLB amount equivalent to 78 days' wages is being paid to about 11.72 lakh non-gazetted Railway employees.

The maximum amount payable per eligible railway employee is Rs.17,951/- for 78 days. The above amount will be paid to various categories, of Railway staff like Track maintainers, Loco Pilots, Train Managers (Guards), Station Masters, Supervisors, Technicians, Technician Helpers, Pointsman, Ministerial staff and other Group 'C staff.

The performance of Railways in the year 2023-2024 was very good. Railways loaded a record cargo of 1588 Million Tonnes and carried nearly 6.7 Billion Passengers.

Many factors contributed to this record performance. These include improvement in infrastructure due to infusion of record Capex by the Government in Railways, efficiency in operations and better technology etc.
