For third year in a row, PM Narendra Modi interacted with journalists at a Diwali Milan programme at the BJP headquarter. PM appreciated efforts of media towards several causes. Shri Modi also spoke on combining the Lok Sabha and Vidhan Sabha elections. He said that resources are often wasted in holding the Central and State elections at different times.

On October 2014 and Novemmber 2015, Shri Modi had addressed similar events. Here the PM had presented his opinion for organising such gatherings post Diwali. Shri Modi, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat, used to interact with several journalists at such occasions and has carried the practice forward after becoming the Prime Minister.
