TMC hatao, Bangla bachao!: PM Modi’s appeal to save Bengal from TMC’s misrule

In a stirring address to an enthusiastic crowd in Durgapur, West Bengal, PM Modi reignited the dream of a Viksit Bengal and assured the people that change is not just possible but inevitable. From invoking Bengal’s proud industrial and cultural legacy to exposing TMC’s failures, PM Modi presented a clear roadmap for restoring the state’s glory and integrating it into the journey of Viksit Bharat. He reaffirmed his unwavering commitment with a resounding assurance: “Viksit Bangla, Modi ki Guarantee!”

PM Modi paid tribute to Bengal’s visionary leaders like Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, Dr. B.C. Roy, Dwarkanath Tagore, and Sir Biren Mukherjee, who once made the state the industrial heart of India. “Durgapur, Asansol, Bardhaman once drove India’s industrial growth, but under TMC, industries are shutting down, and youth are forced to migrate for jobs,” he said. He pledged that with a BJP government, Bengal can once again become one of India’s top industrial states.

Exposing how TMC’s violence, corruption, and syndicate raj have created an anti-investment environment, PM Modi declared, “TMC’s goonda tax and mafias drive investors away and deprive the youth of opportunities. The day TMC’s wall of obstruction falls, Bengal will soar on the wings of development.” He urged voters to “TMC hatao, Bangla bachao” to ensure security for people and businesses alike.

PM Modi sharply criticised the TMC’s systemic fraud and corruption in education and jobs, which have ruined the careers of thousands. “From the teacher recruitment scam to the growing insecurity for daughters even in hospitals and colleges, TMC has betrayed Bengal’s youth,” he said, citing the recent incidents of atrocities against young women and how TMC leaders shield the guilty.

Emphasising BJP’s deep roots in Bengal’s soil, PM Modi assured that BJP stands for preserving Bengali culture, pride, and identity. He slammed TMC’s appeasement politics and support for infiltrators, calling it a grave threat to Bengal’s culture and India’s security.

PM Modi highlighted how TMC blocks central schemes and stalls development projects funded by thousands of crores from Delhi. From PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat, to Har Ghar Jal, he listed schemes that TMC has deliberately denied to the poor and tribal communities. “BJP’s double-engine government will ensure that every family in Bengal benefits from these welfare schemes — this is Modi ki Guarantee,” he reiterated.

PM Modi also reminded the people that it was the BJP government that honoured Bengali pride by granting Bangla the status of a Classical Language — a fitting tribute to literary legends like Bishnu Dey.

In his concluding appeal, PM Modi urged the people of Durgapur and West Bengal to give the BJP a chance to form a government that is honest, efficient, and strong. “Viksit Bangla, Modi ki Guarantee. Viksit Bangla, BJP-r Shankalpo!” he declared to thunderous applause.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, will visit Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on 14 April 2026. At around 11:15 AM, the Prime Minister will visit Saharanpur in Uttar Pradesh to undertake a review of the Wildlife Corridor on the elevated section of the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor. At around 11:40 AM, the Prime Minister will perform Darshan and Pooja at Jai Maa Daat Kali Temple near Dehradun. Thereafter, at around 12:30 PM, Prime Minister will inaugurate the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor at a public function in Dehradun and will also address the gathering on the occasion.

The 213 km long six-lane access-controlled Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor has been developed at a cost of over ₹12,000 crore. The corridor traverses through the states of Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand, and will reduce travel time between Delhi and Dehradun from over six hours at present to around two and a half hours.

Implementation of the project also includes the construction of 10 interchanges, three Railway Over Bridges (ROBs), four major bridges and 12 wayside amenities to enable seamless high-speed connectivity. The corridor is equipped with an Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) to provide a safer and more efficient travel experience for commuters.

Keeping in view the ecological sensitivity, rich biodiversity and wildlife in the region, the corridor has been designed with several features aimed at significantly reducing man-animal conflict. To ensure the free movement of wild animals, the project incorporates several dedicated wildlife protection features. These include a 12 km long wildlife elevated corridor, which is one of the longest in Asia. The corridor also includes eight animal passes, two elephant underpasses of 200 metres each, and a 370 metre long tunnel near the Daat Kali temple.

The Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor will play a pivotal role in strengthening regional economic growth by enhancing connectivity between major tourism and economic centres as well as opening new avenues for trade and development across the region. The project reflects the vision of the Prime Minister to develop next-generation infrastructure that combines high-speed connectivity with environmental sustainability and improved quality of life for citizens.
