Prime Minister Narendra Modi today campaigned in Krishnanagar in Nadia district and Shaheed Minar at Kolkata, West Bengal.

The PM stated that the TMC was worried as the Election Commission was looking into complaints of alleged violation of the model code of conduct by some of it's leaders. Shri Modi added further, "Our EC is respected all over the world. Every sportsman respects an umpire. It's our duty to respect the EC. Polls will come and go. But institutions have to be respected. Mrs. Indira Gandhi too faced punishment when she misused official machinery. Systems can not be destroyed."

Shri Narendra Modi expressed concern over employment opportunities for youth in the state. He opined that the land of Bengal that was known for learning and for the great men who led the nation, today lacked opportunities for it's youth. He said that people now struggled to get suitable jobs in the state.

Shri Narendra Modi alleged that the TMC, the party people of West Bengal trusted and voted for 'Paribartan' in the state, was putting the future of people in darkness by indulging in corruption. He took note of the Saradha chit fund scam and the Narada sting in which several TMC leaders were found to be indulged.

Lambasting at the Congress party and the Left front alliance in West Bengal, the PM said that both the parties were opportunist and were misleading the people of Bengal. Shri Modi added, "In Kerala Left leaders say if a party has ruined the nation it is Congress. In West Bengal the same Left leaders say they will work with Congress!"

PM Narendra Modi urged people of West Bengal to vote for a BJP Government in the state that would take Bengal to newer heights of progress. "Central Government is doing everything possible to ensure a better future for the people in the eastern states. India's progress is incomplete without the development of eastern India. This part of India has to develop for overall development of the country", said the Prime Minister. Several party leaders also joined the PM during the rallies.
