Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi received Dr. Abdullah Abdullah, Chairman, High Council for National Reconciliation, Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, for a meeting today.
During their warm and substantive discussions, Prime Minister recalled the close historical ties between the two neighbouring countries, and expressed happiness about the strengthening of bilateral cooperation over the past years.

Dr. Abdullah Abdullah briefed the Prime Minister on the ongoing peace talks and the security situation in the region, and expressed appreciation for India’s principled and consistent stance in support of peace in Afghanistan. Conveying special recognition of India’s developmental partnership with Afghanistan, he noted the benefits that it has brought to the people of Afghanistan.

Prime Minister reaffirmed India’s strong and continued commitment for sustained peace and prosperity in Afghanistan. In this context, he welcomed efforts towards a comprehensive and permanent ceasefire in Afghanistan.
