Gujarat power utility gets two awards for early completion of projects

New Delhi: Gujarat, a power surplus state, once again shines through, as its power utility GETCO bagged two awards in the Union Ministry of Power’s Comprehensive Award Scheme for recognizing meritorious performance of power utilities. The awards—Gold and Silver shields -- were received by Mr. B.B. Chauhan (Chief Engineer, Projects) and Mr. Romi Bhatia, GM (GETCO) from Union Minister for Power, Shri Jyotiraditya Scindia here.

Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation Ltd (GETCO) has been awarded the ‘Gold Shield’ for 220KV Charanka Substation in the category of early completion of power transmission projects for the year 2011-12. GETCO was also awarded ‘Silver Shield’ for 220KV Bhachau (Vondh) Substation in the category of early completion of power transmission projects for the year 2012-13.

The Charanka Substation is executed in nine months and 24 days while the Bhachau (Vondh) Substation is completed in 18 months and 09 days against the reasonable time schedule of 24 months stipulated by GOI.

GETCO has been awarded thrice in past for early completion of power transmission projects by Union Ministry of Power for 220 KV Bhutia (Silver Shield for year 2005-06), 220 KV Rajpar (Gold Shield for year 2007-08) and 220 KV Bhat Substation (Gold Shield for year 2009-10).

Gujarat’s power sector has achieved a complete turnaround in last one decade. The total installed capacity in the state as on March 2012 was 15306 MW and the total generation of electricity in the state was 78651 MUs in the year 2011-12.

Prime Minister congratulates space scientists and engineers for successful launch of LVM3-M6 and BlueBird Block-2

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has congratulated space scientists and engineers for successful launch of LVM3-M6, the heaviest satellite ever launched from Indian soil, and the spacecraft of USA, BlueBird Block-2, into its intended orbit. Shri Modi stated that this marks a proud milestone in India’s space journey and is reflective of efforts towards an Aatmanirbhar Bharat.

"With LVM3 demonstrating reliable heavy-lift performance, we are strengthening the foundations for future missions such as Gaganyaan, expanding commercial launch services and deepening global partnerships" Shri Modi said.
