Mr. Yohei Sasakawa calls on PM

Mr. Yohei Sasakawa, called on the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today. Mr. Sasakawa, who is Chairman of The Nippon Foundation, had initiated in 2005, the establishment of the National Forum of People Affected by Leprosy in India, a nationwide network of leprosy colonies.

Sasakawa India Leprosy Foundation (SILF) is a charitable institution dedicated to the task of mainstreaming leprosy affected and cured people through economic and social empowerment.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister expressed deep appreciation for Mr. Sasakawa`s personal commitment to the cause of eradication of leprosy, both in India and across the world.

Prime Minister condoles the loss of lives due to a road accident in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today condoled the loss of lives due to a road accident in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. He announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF for the next of kin of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 to the injured.

The PMO India handle in post on X said:

“Saddened by the loss of lives due to a road accident in Pithoragarh, Uttarakhand. Condolences to those who have lost their loved ones in the mishap. May the injured recover soon.

An ex-gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000: PM @narendramodi”
