The electoral atmosphere intensified as PM Narendra Modi engaged in two spirited rallies in Sagwara and Kotri ahead of the Rajasthan assembly election. “This region has suffered greatly under Congress rule. The people of Dungarpur are well aware of how the misrule of the Congress has shattered the dreams of the youth,” PM Modi said while addressing the public rally.

Speaking firmly against the Congress for ruining the youth’s future, PM Modi said, “The Congress government has been involved in corruption in every government recruitment in Rajasthan. The children of Congress leaders and their close associates have become officers while your children were left out. The Congress-backed paper leak mafia has ruined the future of the youth in Rajasthan. Today, the pages of the red diary of dark deeds are unfolding... those are the dark truths of the Congress government.”

He added, “Even if the Congress publishes the entire red diary of promises, Modi’s guarantee is still stronger against every false commitment of theirs. Where hopes end with Congress regarding the welfare of the poor and public welfare, Modi’s guarantee begins from there.”

Addressing the shortcomings of the Congress, PM Modi asserted, “Congress never sees anyone beyond its own family. Anyone who even looks towards the Congress family knows that Congress leaves no stone unturned to belittle them. Congress did the same with Baba Saheb Ambedkar. Congress insulted Sardar Patel in the same way. The BJP has developed key places associated with Baba Saheb Ambedkar as Panch Teerth.”

“With the support of all of you, today in Kevadia, the world’s tallest statue of Sardar Patel has been erected. Every day, thousands of people go there to see the Statue of Unity. But to date, not a single leader of the Congress has gone to the Statue of Unity. This is the reality of Congress. Therefore, you need to be cautious of Congress. Congress is not for Dalits, not for the backward, not for tribals, not for the poor. Congress has remained a slave to just one family,” he added.

PM Modi shed light on the expansion of the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana and initiatives aimed at the welfare of tribal communities, among other topics. He said, “The central government is also emphasizing the development of modern infrastructure in this region. We have started the Ahmedabad-Banswara-Dungarpur rail project. A new train has started from Dungarpur. Work is also about to begin on supplying affordable gas through pipelines in the cities of Dungarpur and Banswara. This will make your lives easier and boost business and trade as well.”

While addressing the second rally in Kotri, Rajasthan, which witnessed a massive turnout with enthusiastic supporters, PM Modi said, “Today the whole of Rajasthan is saying ‘Gehlot ji, Koni mile vote ji!”

During his impactful speech, PM Modi expressed concern about the state's cultural heritage, emphasizing its significance for the entire nation. He raised a red flag against the Congress government, citing a substantial threat to Rajasthan's culture due to their policies of appeasement.

He said, “The people of Bhilwara are well aware of how communal tension has continuously increased under the Congress government here. Congress has given undue freedom to extremist elements here. If Congress remains in power, there will be an increase in migration, and there will be more atrocities on women and the poor. Therefore, today, the time demands to remove Congress from the Rajasthan government.”

Addressing the water scarcity issues in Bhilwara, PM Modi acknowledged the challenges faced by many homes and thousands of people waiting for the sweet water of the Chambal. Highlighting Congress’ corruption, the PM said, “The Union government had sent funds for projects related to water, however, Congress did corruption and misused them. This is the true identity of Congress.”

Taking a dig at Congress' recently released manifesto, PM Modi questioned the party's decades-long claim of eliminating poverty. He contrasted Congress' track record with the achievements of the BJP government, where over 13 crore people have been lifted out of poverty in five years. The PM asserted “The BJP's direction and path are correct for the nation.”

PM Modi also lauded the efforts of the BJP government in opening a medical college in Bhilwara district, showcasing the commitment to improving healthcare infrastructure.

While concluding his address, the PM highlighted the natural beauty of Bijolia and said, “Bijolia is famous for its natural beauty, but the mining mafias in Rajasthan have caused havoc on these hills.” The Prime Minister assured that an end will be put to such activities. Also, PM Modi cited the recent introduction of two Vande Bharat trains in Rajasthan, simplifying the lives of the people.

Prime Minister urges MPs to vote in favour of Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam Amendment, Calls it Historic Opportunity
April 17, 2026

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has highlighted that a discussion is currently underway in Parliament on the amendment to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam, noting that deliberations continued till 1 AM last night.

He stated that all misconceptions surrounding the amendment have been addressed with logical responses, and every concern raised by members has been resolved. The Prime Minister added that necessary information, wherever lacking, has also been provided to all members, ensuring that issues of opposition have been clarified.

Emphasising that the issue of women’s reservation has witnessed political debates for nearly four decades, the Prime Minister said that the time has now come to ensure that women, who constitute half of the country’s population, receive their rightful representation.

He observed that even after decades of independence, the low representation of women in the decision-making process is not appropriate and needs to be corrected.

The Prime Minister informed that voting in the Lok Sabha is expected shortly and urged all political parties to take a thoughtful and sensitive decision by voting in favour of the women’s reservation amendment.

Appealing on behalf of the women of the country, he urged all Members of Parliament to ensure that no action hurts the sentiments of Nari Shakti. He noted that crores of women are looking towards the Parliament, its intent, and its decisions.

The Prime Minister called upon MPs to reflect upon their families-mothers, sisters, daughters, and wives—and listen to their inner conscience while making the decision.

He described the amendment as a significant opportunity to serve and honour the women of the nation and urged members not to deprive them of new opportunities.

Expressing confidence, the Prime Minister said that if the amendment is passed unanimously, it will further strengthen Nari Shakti as well as the country’s democracy.

Calling it a historic moment, he urged all members to come together to create history by granting rightful representation to women, who form half of India’s population.

The Prime Minister wrote on X;

"Parliament is discussing a historic legislation that paves the way for women’s reservation in legislative bodies. The discussions, which began yesterday, lasted till around 1 AM and have continued since the House proceedings began this morning.

The Government has addressed all apprehensions and misconceptions relating to the legislation with facts and logic. All concerns have been addressed and any gaps in information have also been filled.

For nearly four decades, this issue of women’s reservation in legislative bodies has been inordinately delayed. Now is the time to ensure that half of the nation’s population receives its rightful due in decision making. Even after so many decades of Independence, it is not right that women in India have such limited representation in this area.

In a short while from now, voting will take place in the Lok Sabha. I urge and appeal to all political parties to reflect carefully and take a sensitive decision by voting in favour of women’s reservation.

On behalf of our Nari Shakti, I also request all members not to do anything that may hurt the sentiments of women across India. Crores of women are watching us…our intent and our decisions. I once again request that everyone support the amendments to the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.”

"I would like to appeal to all Members of Parliament…

Please reflect upon your conscience, remembering the women in your own families.

The legislation to ensure women’s reservation in legislative bodies is a significant opportunity to do justice to women of our nation.

Please do not deprive our Nari Shakti of new opportunities.

If this amendment is passed unanimously, it will further empower the women of our country and strengthen our democracy.

Let us come together today to create history.

Let us ensure that the women of India, who are half of the nation’s population, receive their rightful due.”
