Narendra Modi participates in Gandhinagar's 45th Birthday

Gujarat's capital town Gandhinagar today celebrated its 45th birthday with amazingly huge bicycle rally. Thousands of citizens of the town participated in this huge rally which was flagged off by Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

Chief Minister also flagged off 11 new local city buses in the town. On the inaugural day, the residents of Gandhinagar enjoyed the city bus ride for free. Fourteen additional buses will be introduced on the occasion of Diwali. The capital town has for the first time got the local bus service. Three circular routes have been designed to ensure buses reached every corner of all the sectors. The buses will also connect the town to surrounding villages like Chiloda, Adalaj, Pethapur, Vasnia Mahadev, Kolvada and Vavol. The city bus service will start at 6 am everyday and continue till 10 in the night. The frequency of buses on each route will be 30 minutes. The commuters would be charged Rs 2 for traveling up to 2 km. Every additional kilometre would cost them Re 1 extra.

The state government has allotted 2800 sq metre of land to Vitcos at Sector 27 to park its 32-seat buses and to set up a workshop. Vitcos also runs city buses in Bhavnagar, Anand and Vadodara.

PM Modi arrives in Sri Lanka

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Colombo, Sri Lanka. During his visit, the PM will take part in various programmes. He will meet President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

Both leaders will also travel to Anuradhapura, where they will jointly launch projects that are being developed with India's assistance.
