On the morning of Saturday 9th February 2013 Shri Narendra Modi interacted with top lawmakers from various European nations. The interaction was held via Skype and noted spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar joined the interaction. The European lawmakers are attending the 10th Corporate Culture and Spirituality, India Conference in Bangalore.

The political figures who interacted with Shri Modi are Mr. Joe Leinen (German politician from the SPD and member of the European Parliament who heads the Committee on Environment, Public Health and Food Safety in the Parliament), Mr. Nirj Deva (Member of the European Parliament and politician of Britain’s Conservative Party), Ms. Anne Marie Lizin (the Honorary President of the Belgian Senate) and Mr. Vladislav Yurchik (leader of “Communist of Russia and Deputy of the Russian Parliament, ‘Duma’), Mr. Valery Sargienko (Member of Siberia’s Legislative Assembly and leader of Communist Party).

The lawmakers invited Shri Modi to attend the European Parliament that will convene in Brussels in November this year. The Parliament will be attended by representatives of over 27 nations. He also received an invitation to attend the European Business Meet in Brussels later this year.

The lawmakers lauded the development journey in Gujarat and congratulated Shri Modi for making the state Vibrant without a trace of corruption.

During the interaction Shri Modi talked about the various initiatives of Gujarat to protect the environment. He shared that Gujarat is the 1st in Asia and among the 4 states in the world to have a separate department of climate change. He talked about Gujarat’s advances in solar energy including Asia’s largest solar park in Charanka and spoke about the Roof Top Solar Policy of the Government. Shri Modi also added that Gujarat is marking remarkable strides in other forms of renewable energy including wind energy.

He pointed that Gujarat is working on a Rama trail from Gujarat to Sri Lanka and proposed a similar Buddha trail from Sri Lanka to Gujarat. Mr. Nirj Deva said that he will talk to the Honorable President of Sri Lanka on the issue.

The Chief Minister pointed out that Gujarat and Russia enjoy a very old relation. He said that Astrakhan province of Russia is a sister state to Gujarat and had sent a delegation to attend the Vibrant Gujarat Summit 2013. He stated that hundreds of thousands of flamingoes from Siberia come to Gujarat every year and that the State Government has a flamingo city, to which he extended an invitation.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar ji said that Gujarat has progressed immensely and that there is so much peace and progress under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi.
