Illustrious Sanskrit Scholars honoured

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, on Monday, presented bonze citation, Shawl and Sanskrit Scholar Awards to illustrious Sanskrit Scholars at a ceremony held at Gandhinagar town-hall. The Sanskrit Scholar Award also carries cash purse of Rs. 50,000/.

CM expressed his firm resolve to prepare 1 Lac. youth, who can speak in Sanskrit, he was speaking after presenting awards to as many as 12 Sanskrit Scholars. To mark the birth anniversary of renowned Sanskrit poet Kalidas, the play based on theme of Meghdoot mesmerized the audiences. CM also released a C.D, which is having a collection of Sanskrit Garba.

Expressing his deep admiration for Sanskrit literature, CM lauded the self less and sustained efforts made by Sanskrit Scholars. Indian Language, which has been based on Sanskrit, expresses emotions and depicts our rich-culture, template of expression it motivates us to shed our ego. CM stressed to preserve the treasure-trove, the knowledge enshrined in Sanskrit for the coming generations. Unfortunately, under the evil influences of British Rule, we lost touch with Vedic-Maths and Vedic –Science, CM further highlighted the richness of classical-Sanskrit -literature, which not only depicts our life-cycle but has a sound knowledge. Shri Modijee detailed the initiatives taken by his Government to revive the glory of Sanskrit language.

Shri Indravadan Vishnuprasad Trivedi, Shri Narayanprasad Narmadashankar Oza, Shri Mansukhlal Dayashankar Joshi, Acharya Shashtri Fulshankar Giraja Shankar Vyas, Shri Ambaram Joshi, Shashtri Shri Amrutlal Dave, Shri Anandshankar Joshi, Ranchodlal Pandit and Ghanshyam Shukla were honored by CM.

For their outstanding contribution to Sanskrit literature, those who are honoured with State’s Sahitya –Gaurav Award are Shri Dahyabhai Shashtri, Shri Rajendra Nanavati and Shri Harshdev Madhav.

Minister Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela highlighted the glory and cultural contribution of Sanskrit language. Prabhari Minister Shri Parbat Patel was also present.

Earlier, delivering welcome address Cultural Secretary Shri Bhagyesh Jha highlighted the theme of ceremony. President- Sanskrit Bharati Gujarat- Shri Girish Thakar proposed vote of thanks.

Vice Chancellor of Sanskrit University Shri Pankaj Jani, eminent poets and literates attended the ceremony.
