प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा, 'मेरी गहरी संवेदनाएं श्री आर. आर. पाटिल के परिवार के साथ हैं। उनके निधन का समाचार मिलने से मैं मर्माहत हूं। उनके निधन से महाराष्ट्र की राजनीति में एक शून्य पैदा हो गया है।'
