Government to open 25000 Jan Aushadhi Kendras to make medicines available at affordable prices: PM Modi

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi during his Independence Day speech at Red Fort said that the government has plans to increase the number of 'Jan Aushadhi Kendras' from 10,000 to 25,000.

He said Jan Aushadhi Kendras given a new power to the people special the middle class. If someone is diagnose with diabetes then a monthly bill of Rs. 3000 get accrued.

Through Jan Aushadhi Kendras, the medicines that cost Rs 100, we are giving it at Rs 10 to Rs 15," he said.

The Government will launch Vishwakarma scheme with an allocation of ₹13,000 to 15,000 crore in the next month for those with traditional skills. He said the government is working to increase the number of 'Jan Aushadhi Kendra' (subsidised medicine shops) from 10,000 to 25,000.

PM shares a glimpse of the health sector's transformation and reaffirms the commitment to build a healthy India

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today stated that over the last 12 years, India has worked to make quality healthcare more affordable and accessible. He noted that we feel proud when we are known as the nation with the world’s largest healthcare programme, Ayushman Bharat, which provides top-quality healthcare to the most vulnerable.

Shri Modi pointed out that other efforts like PM Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Pariyojana have made medicines affordable. The Prime Minister highlighted that the prices of stents and knee implants have become affordable and this has helped many people.

PM Modi observed that, at the same time, medical education has become more accessible to people due to more institutions and seats being available. He emphasized that we will keep building on this ground covered so far in order to build a healthy India, sharing a glimpse of how the health sector has been transformed.
