Garib Kalyan Mela reveals the direction for Good Governance

Expressing his desire of keeping on the works of Garib Kalyan Mela, Chief Minister Shri Narendrabhai Modi said that the fight against penury will be made more active after the coming budget.

Inviting leading economists, socialists and political experts to study multi dimensional success of the Garib Kalyan Mela, he said that Gujarat government has been proved exemplary and has shown the direction of Good Governance by solving the problems of poor and distributing benefits directly to poor.

Today the State Government organised Garib Kalyan Mela in Manasa of Gandhinagar district. Chief Minister and other Ministers distributed aid worth Rs 56.20 crore to as many as 27218 beneficiaries of Manasa and Kalol talukas. About 58643 poor beneficiaries received Rs 106.20 crore worth of benefits during two Kalyan Melas organised for Gandhinagar district.

Chief Minister said that the money distributed as aid is not his; he is just there to ensure that benefits are reaching to real beneficiaries without any corruption. 'I am just a medium and providing their own rights to poor people as a part of a frame-work', he said.

Chief Minister expressed his desire of entrusting Rs 1000 crore of administration to Sakhi-Mandals during the Swarnim Year. The amount will be raised to Rs 5000 crore by the year 2014, he added.

Initially Rs 1500 crore was expected to be distributed during Garib Kalyan Melas but in fact the help has reached to around Rs 2600 crore now. Around 50 lakh poor have been made aware of various welfare schemes, he said.

Chief Minister said that as a part of Abhiyan he has expressed his concerns regarding price-rise to the Prime Minister, Finance Minister and Agriculture Minister.

Minister Shri Fakirbhai Vaghela said that due to able administration of Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi, today when many States of the Country is facing terrorist activities like Naxalism and Maoism, Gujarat is far away from such acts. He also outlined various welfare schemes for oppressed and needy poor.

Revenue Minister Smt.Anandiben Patel, Gandhinagar District In-Charge and Health Minister of State Shri Parbatbhai Patel, MP of Manasa Shri Mangaldas Patel also addressed the mela.

Ministers, MPs, district leaders, government office bearers, dignitaries and people in large number were present on the occasion.

PM Modi expresses heartfelt gratitude on completion of 23 years as head of government

The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi has expressed his heartfelt gratitude for completing 23 years as the head of a government. Shri Modi recalled his time as the Chief Minister of Gujarat and said that Gujarat emerged as a shining example of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ ensuring prosperity for all sections of society. Reflecting on the past decade, the Prime Minister said that India’s developmental strides have ensured that our country is being viewed with utmost optimism globally. He reassured the citizens he would keep working tirelessly and not rest till the collective goal of a Viksit Bharat is realised.

It was on October 7, 2001, that I took on the responsibility of serving as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.
