Government's hard work is now ripening as the poor of the State is developing positive confidence to fight poverty, said Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi in Vyara on Tuesday.
Tthe State Government organised Garib Kalyan Mela at Vyara of Surat district on 2nd Februaray, where Chief Minister gave out aid worth Rs 75 crore to around 72800 Vanbandhu families of Vyara, Sonagadh and Valod taluka. 'The work is more virtuous than Kumbh-Mela', he said.
Addressing more than a lac Vanbandhu people he said that the aim of the State Government is to deliver benefits straight in the hands of needy people. Mediators, now have no chance to get in.
Outlining the Abhiyan, Shri Narendra Modi said that the State Government desires to distribute benefits worth Rs 1500 crore during 50 Garib Kalyan Mela. Homeless poor from across the state will be allotted a residential plot at free of cost. To empower poor rural women, Sakhi-Mandals will be entrusted a management of Rs 1500 crore by the year 2014, he added.
Chief Minister regretted that the Centre has not kept its promise of controlling inflation. 'It is responsibility of the Centre to curb price-rise', he said. On the State's efforts of controlling price-rise, he said that in its turn Gujarat has taken all measures and is continuously keeping highest Agriculture Growth Rate of 10%.
Panchayat Minister Shri Narottambhai Patel and Collector of Tapi district Shri C.M.Balat addressed the Mela. Tapi district In-Charge Shri Mangubhai Patel; Shri G.R.Aloriya; Shalini Agrawal; Kantibhai Gamit with Government office bearers, leaders and people in large number were present at the function.
