CM announces four water resources schemes of Rs.400 crore for irrigation in Tapi

“The present state government has created a work culture which has a service-oriented attitude, contrary to the past governments, which worked with emperor-like mentality. That is why we call these government offices as ‘seva-sadan’ for encouraging service-oriented attitude”, said the Chief Minister Narendra Modi while inaugurating a newly-built district seva-sadan, built at the cost of Rs.90 crore, at tribal-dominated Vyara of Tapi district. The newly-built seva-sadan is Gujarat’s first eco-friendly seva-sadan premise which includes revenue, panchayat and police bhavan at a place.

On the occasion, the Chief Minister handed over entitlement letters for lands worth Rs.27 crore to about 5100 adivasis. He also distributed smart health card to the beneficiaries of Mukhyamantri Amrutam scheme.

Addressing to a large number of tribal families who gathered on the occasion the Chief Minister said the state government has approved four irrigation schemes of Rs.400 crore considering a long time demand for irrigation facilities. These schemes include link canal of Ukai right bank, Rs.330 crore irrigation scheme spreading over in 25000 acers covering 62 villages by constructing Ukai Gordha link, Rs.10 crore work of removing alluvium from 100 year old Doshavada lake, 11 lift irrigation schemes for Nizar-Uchchal-Songadh covering 10,000 acres.

Chief Minister mentioned that for the first time after independence the Vajpai government announced to give forest land ploughing rights to the farmers. He said the present government has handed over entitlement letters to 48,000 tribals allotting them 21,000 acre of land. Gujarat has handed over highest number of record of rights to the tribals in the country, he said. He said the state government is resolute for setting up of an engineering college in Tapi, even if the central government does not provide assistance for it. The opposition has gone to court against the advertisement of ‘slap to the injustice of central government’, but the question of advertisement would not have arisen if the Centre has given Gujarat its due rights, he said.

Speaking on the occasion Revenue Minister Anandiben Patel said the new seva-sadan has been built with a view to carry out all the administrative works at one place. The budget for road and building department was Rs.540 crore before a decade, which has increased to Rs.4260 crore in 2012-13. Panchayat Minister Narottam Patel said that the new building will helpful in providing greater facilities to the people.
