Gujarat’s Golden Jubilee Festival: 2010

It is truly a defining moment in history, on Gujarat's Foundation Day; glowing tributes were paid to martyrs of Maha Gujarat Movement, and to the inspirers of Maha Gujarat Movement in Ahmedabad today.

Chief Minister Shri Narendra Modi accompanied by Ex. Deputy P.M. Shri L.K. Advani and many other dignitaries paid floral tributes to Shri Indulal Yagnik. Who gave a call for Maha Gujarat Movement; he gave up his entire life struggling for the cause of Gujarat. Speaker of Gujarat Assembly, Shri Ashok Bhatt, cabinet colleagues, MLAs, Mayor Shri Kanaji Thakor also paid homage to the great leader.

Chief Minister drove to Shahid Smarak; as many as 25 persons gave supreme sacrifice, braving bullets during Maha Gujarat Movement. Amidst playing of police-band, Chief Minister, accompanied by prominent dignitaries paid rich tributes to the martyrs.

At a special convention, Governor of Gujarat Dr. Smt Kamla presided over the Swarnim-Sanklpa Sabha (Golden-pledge taking ceremony) held at Hruday Kunj, Sabarmati Ashram.

Governor, CM, Shri Advanijee, cabinet colleagues and prominent leaders paid homage to Pujya Bapu. Leaders participated in inter-faith prayer at Hruday-Kunj.

On this occasion, the families of Maha Gujarat martyrs were honored. Governor presented them a Shawl; Chief Minister handed over handspun garland to them.

Devoted to the pursuit of Swarnim Gujarat, Gujarat Assembly Speaker Shri Ashok Bhatt administered Golden Pledges.

Chief Minister paid homage to Shri Ravishankar Maharaj at his statue in Gandhinagar.

Helicopter rained petals on the statue of Indulal Yagnik.

Prime Minister condoles passing of renowned photographer Shri Raghu Rai

The Prime Minister has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of eminent photographer Raghu Rai, describing him as a creative stalwart who immortalised India’s vibrancy through his lens. Shri Modi noted that Shri Raghu Rai’s work was marked by extraordinary sensitivity, depth and diversity, capturing the many facets of life across India and bringing them closer to people.The Prime Minister remarked that his contribution to the world of photography and culture is unparalleled, and his passing is an irreparable loss to the artistic community.

The Prime Minister posted on X;

“Shri Raghu Rai Ji will be remembered as a creative stalwart, who captured India’s vibrancy through his lens. His photography had extraordinary sensitivity, depth and diversity. It brought people closer to the different aspects of life in India. His passing is an irreparable loss to the world of photography and culture.
