Prime Minister Modi’s special initiatives for ‘Divyangs’

PM Narendra Modi will attend an event in Gujarat’s Vadodara and distribute assistive devices to the divyangs. The Centre aims to train over 25 lakh divyangs in seven years. Several initiatives that focus on education, health, financial inclusion and creation of infrastructure according to the requirements of the divyangs will be initiated.

On September 17, 2016, PM Modi attended a programme in Navsari, Gujarat where he distributed aids and assistive devices to 11,232 divangs. Three world records were set during this event.

Similarly, on January 22, 2016, PM Modi participated in Samajik Adhikarita Shivir where over nine thousand divyangs were distributed hearing aids and wheelchairs.

Prime Minister, during his Mann Ki Baat too has time and again urged people to use the word ‘divyang’ instead of ‘viklang’.

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi met H.E. Mr. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, on 1 December 2023, on the sidelines of COP-28 Summit in the UAE.

Prime Minister thanked President Mirziyoyev for Uzbekistan’s participation in Voice of Global South Summit.

Both leaders exchanged views on deepening their wide ranging bilateral relations in the areas of health, education, pharmaceuticals and traditional medicine. Prime Minister also assured India's support to expand our development partnership with Uzbekistan.
